When I use the Plot DWG to PDF function it does not recognise some Wipeouts.

The difficult part is that some wipeouts inside blocks in the model seem to be working.

But MTEXT with background masks, or polyline wipeouts, whether in paper or model space simply don't work.

Has anyone else noticed that wipeouts don't wipe anything that is behind them out? It seems weird to me because it is a function directly out of AutoCAD, as opposed to a third party app.

I have found that certain PDF plotters plot wipeouts correctly, others don't. The AutoCAD supplied one is (usually) OK here but others just leave a black shape. I can only suggest you try a different converter.

My machine won't plot wipeouts when using DWG to PDF.pc3

My colleague's machine plots them all correctly using the same print driver. We have the plotters all reading from one central location on our server.

Is there likely to be a setting that I can toggle to get it working on both?

These PDFs are so much smaller than 3rd party app created ones, so I am keen to get it working.

Some more info, might help nut his one out.

Are the wipeouts done in Model or Paperspace ?

Is your colleague printing the exact file, or one created by them ?

What layer are you creating the wipeouts on ?

The wipeouts are in Paperspace, but I have tested them using CHSPACE to put them in Model with same result.

(Wipeouts that are embedded in blocks seem to be working.)

My colleague and I use the identical files to test.

Wipeouts are on either "0" or a "Text" layers. The are a mix of rectangular wipeouts and Background Masks on MTEXT>

From the help file..

You can create wipeout objects on a layout in paper space to mask objects in model space; however, on the Plot Settings tab of the Plot dialog box, the Plot Paper Space Last option must be cleared before you plot to ensure that the wipeout object is plotted correctly.

Does do anything. ?

does changing the layer help ?
