JayVee Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hello. We are encountering the same problem, on different printers: Lines of a specific scale height (4") print to 4.5" Yet, horizontal lines remain unchanged and print to our exact specifications. Does anyone know why this is happening?, and more importantly, where/how to fix this? Thanks in advance, JV Quote

If it's a cheap printer then good luck on trying to fix it or finding someone that can fix it. That is, if everything is literally to scale from the drawing which should be checked first. I'm assuming you definitely have it scaled tho. Quote
JayVee Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 They're Brother printers, one of them is of better quality... I'm going to check this on a good Lexmark, but that doesn't address the changes happening only on Verticle lines. Can you clarify what you wrote about our having this scaled? Where do I confirm the accuracy of printing in AutoCAD? Quote

And to confirm the scale, just single click on the Viewport edge in Paperspace, and open the Properties box to view the scale. Quote
BIGAL Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Bit wierd normally printers are reasonable even cheap ones, anyway there is two sytem variables that allow you to change the scaling factor before printing just got to remember what they were or where they are to change, maybe even in Config. I have printed to scale drawings with an Epson, so that prbably isnt the problem. Quote
tzframpton Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I have printed to scale drawings with an Epson, so that prbably isnt the problem. Are you sure? We had a printer that would be to perfect scale if the line was parallel to the roller of the paper feed. Anything printed that was perpendicular to the roller was off about 1/2" because the roller was not calibrated correctly. When we got it fixed is wasn't perfect but it was within 1/32" which was good enough. Also note that most printers do not actually print to perfect scale, they take a rasterized image of a vector output and "magnify" it larger or smaller to fit onto a piece of paper. Sometimes older printers will have problems like this when it comes to scaling. That's why it's good to search high quality printers, especially those that are labeled for commercial grade, not some off the shelf Best Buy inkjet printer. Just FYI is all..... take it for what it's worth. Quote
