Consult your AutoCAD Help files specifically the topic database records, accessing. When the first window appears three topics will be listed. Take a look at the first one called Configure a database for use with AutoCAD drawings.

"Note: The 64-bit release of AutoCAD does not support the use of Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider (for .MDB connectivity) and Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (for .XLS connectivity). For more information, see Substituting SQL Server for OLE DB."

AutoDesk has included a sample database file you can experiment with along with a preconfigured direct driver.

Hello,

First, i'm sorry for my poor english.

I reply here cause your problem was a part of mine, and it's an old problem. But few speak of this on the net so if I fall on your solution now (august 2011) it's cause it's alway's actual today.

My problem was to import Excel database (32 bit) on AutoCAD Map 2011 64 bit. Like you said, the Windows 64 bit (7 for me) don't offer the right ODBC driver to do this action.

Here a fresh newly solution from a brilliant guy and not so complicated. A little more than before, but not that much, when you know how to do...

This is the usefull video: Access and Excel Files In 64-bit Map 3D (sorry I don't have the permission to post the link so I will try to explain in my poor english...)

You must first download: Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable (copy/paste this name on google and you will found this)

Second, you must uninstall your 32 bits Microsoft office program (you can reinstall it after)

You install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable file

Reinstall your office if apply

Now you can open Data Source (ODBC) window on normal way (Control Panel / Administrative tools / Data Sources (ODBC))

You select the add button and you choose the kind of database file you want to link. Check the versions dates are recent (2010)

Now AutoCAD will see it.

The video have much more explanations on the import procedure for Map, but if you want the link copy past the name on the video on google ( Access and Excel Files In 64-bit Map 3D ), click on the first result (Map 3D and 64 bit ODBC Connection...), Now go to the bottom, click on the last link that Murph give and go to the second page of the forum discussion. Read the answer of Zac Travis (autodesk Product Support), you will have the link.

I think it works not only for AutoCAD map, cause the first thing to do is to create the ODBC on Access or Excel database (datasheet) on Win 7 64 bit. So it will probably works for all the applications that need it.

Hope than it will be useful for someone else. After nearly 10 hours to search for solutions, I think than the best I can do for the community is to communicate the solution:wink:

This is a municipally provided mdb file. Using Auto Cad Map 3D 2011 - first time map user. I am seeing little squares to indicate forest, but they aren't in the right place and they are just squares, not drawn shapes.

:(

My database does not contain x,y coordinates. There is a bioforest file and a bioforest shape index. The column names I can choose are (below the shape index names)

The shape index has these headings MinGX MinGY MaxGX MaxGY OBJECTID CRE_DATE CRE_BY GEO_MODDATE GEO_MODBY ATT_MODDATE ATT_MODBY CAP_METHOD FOREST_ID CLASS HECTARES ACRES SHAPE_Length SHAPE_Area
