Flatten Layers to Blocks

Hi,

 

I'm trying to streamline my interface with Sketchup. Sketchup layering is worthless, but the "components" are powerful. So normally I select every object on an AutoCAD layer and make a block. I do this for every layer. Then I export to Sketchup. The blocks become "components" in Sketchup. This works great, but is time consuming.

 

Anyone know a LISP routine that could do the same; essentially turning layers into blocks. Ideally, once these blocks are made another script could put every object in the drawing on layer O....

 

Any LISPs that do something similar to this? I could perhaps cobble together the correct script...
