Doing a Custom Scale in paperspace?

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am drawing on Arch D paper and need help scaling a plot plan on the sheet. I need to plot it at a scale of 1''=10' (1=120 Unints).

How can I create this custom scale?:?

Edit the scale list using the SCALELISTEDIT command if you want it there permanently.

I tried this in paperspace:

Command: SCALELISTEDIT

Unknown command "SCALELISTEDIT". Press F1 for help.

I know that as far back as 2007 for sure and maybe even 2006 in plain AutoCAD the SCALELISTEDIT command existed. I have no experience with any Architecture 200X products.

When it comes time to plot why not just input the 1=120 as you have indicated above?

Remark: I am using ADT 2004....am I able to plot 1:120 even though I am using paperspace?

Oh good...we're using even older software than our profile shows. Yikes!

You have a viewport established in paperspace? And you assigned the scale you want to it?

Yes my profile shows 2008... but that is at home... 2004 at school :(

You have a viewport established in paperspace? Yes

And you assigned the scale you want to it? No I want to....

Then try this.

First...open Properties.

Second...click on your viewport.

Then...look in the Properties palette under the Misc heading.

See where it says Standard scale? Using the down arrow that will appear if you put your cursor near the end of that box select Custom.

Now move down to where it says Custom scale (right below Standard scale). Type your new scale here (1:60).

That should do it.

After I type in the new scale it still reads 0''

With the viewport active and unlocked... Zoom > 1/120xp to give you 1"=10' (architectural)

Zoom > 1/720xp will give you 1"=60' then right? Just curious. It's for another thread.

Can you explain this in more detail? I am fairly new to viewports and paperspace....

From your AutoCAD Help file re: Zoom > Scale > nX or nXP option.

"Enter a value followed by xp to specify the scale relative to paper space units."

720/12=60 yep 1"=60' if the units of the drawing are in inches

When you plot from paperspace, 99% of the time you plot 1:1. If your viewport had a scale factor of 1 an entity drawn in modelspace at 12" would plot out at 12" (or 1 foot). If you wanted the same 12" entity to plot out at 1" (a plot scale of 1"=12" or 1"=1') you would need to apply a scale factor of 1/12 to the zoom level of the viewport. This can be accomplished by Zoom > 1/12xp. Since you wanted the plot scale to be 1"=10' (or 1"=120") you would set the viewport scale factor at 1/120... Zoom > 1/120xp. Clear as mud?

Makes me happy AutoDesk added the Viewports toolbar with common scales. Click...pick...apply.
