dbakeg00 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Hello All, Here is my situation...I currently use AutoCAD 2010. My company previously used AutoCAD LT 2007. In some of the paperspace drawings that were originally created with 2007, when I (using 2010) double click a block to change an attribute, it puts me into model space (within paper space, if that makes any sense...my viewport becomes highlighted and I can only select objects in model space) and the cursor says to "select a block." I'm not quite sure why this is happening or how to fix it. It only happens on some of the drawings created with 2007 LT. When its working correctly, the Enhanced attribute editor pops up and I am able to change the attributes. The only way I have found around this issue is to left single click on the block and then right click and select "Edit Attribute." I know this is really convuluded and confusing and I apoligize. Anyone out there have any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance! db Quote
lpseifert Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm guessing you're missing the block when you try to dbl-click it If you don't want to enter the viewport when dbl-clicking, set Spaceswitch=0, I find dbl-clicking to be able to enter MS and PS convenient though. Quote
dbakeg00 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 I thought I was missing the block at first too, so I tried zooming in real close so as to make sure to get the block, and it still causes me to enter the viewport. Its one of the weirdest things I have ever seen. I will try adjusting the SPACESWITCH variable and see what happens. Thanks for the help. db Quote
Glen Smith Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Unless I misunderstand your problem, things are working as they should. When you are in paperspace only blocks that have been inserted in paperspace should be dbl-clickable to start the attribute editor. (like a titleblock) If you are in paperspace and want to edit the attributes of a block that exists in model space, you would first dbl-click in your viewport to switch to model space, then dbl click again on the block to edit. To check this, enter EATTEDIT (Enhanced ATTribute Editor) at the command prompt in paperspace. You should not be able to select any blocks in model space. escape out of that, dbl click into model space and do the same thing. You should now be able to select any block to edit its attributes. I've never had AutoCAD behave any other way - is it possible that the SPACESWITCH variable is different in your source drawings? Glen Quote
dbakeg00 Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 It still does it in some drawings. The only way to edit the block in these drawings is to right click on the block and hit edit attributes OR to drag the block outside of the viewport and double click on it. Its weird how it works outside of the viewport. Guess this mystery will go unsolved! Thanks for the help guys! Quote
Tankman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I second Glen's reply to the post. In paperspace I can only edit "stuff" like the title block. Good. Quote
dbakeg00 Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 These blocks are not title blocks but they are blocks such as schedules of openings and vessel design data tables, so I think the proper environment to place/edit them is in paper space. Quote
