Ricardo Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I'm trying to add a plotter on AutoCAD 2007 through the plotter manager's add-a-plotter wizard and my plotter model is not listed on there I had this plotter on there before upgrading to Windows 7. Now it won't let me add it and I'm stuck not being able to plot anything Is there a reason for this? Or a way around this? Quote
Dipali Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 May be you need to reinstall or readd it in winodw because you upraded window. so click on Start button at bottom of your screen>settings>control panle> pirnter & faxes. check if your plotter is not listed their add it their first & than you can add it in auotcad. ReMark Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 What is the make/model of your plotter? Do you have the driver's CD or are you relying upon Windows providing the driver? Quote

I tried that to no avail. It keeps not showing up and letting me install. What is the make/model of your plotter? Do you have the driver's CD or are you relying upon Windows providing the driver? It's an HP Color LaserJet CM2320Onf MFP I'm relying on Windows for that, but I think I might have access to acquire the CD. Quote

If so, then just print to that, and if you need to make changes, it will prompt you to create the PC3/PMP files and save the changes. Quote
ReMark Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Drivers can be downloaded from the HP website. Is it a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Win7? It does make a difference. Quote

It's a network printer and it doesn't just let me print directly to it. It has to be done through a spooler. Drivers can be downloaded from the HP website. Is it a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Win7? It does make a difference. I'm gonna try the website. It's a 32 bit. Is it too much of a big difference? Quote
ReMark Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Alright, I thought you were on your own. Network printer...gotcha. Your IT department should have set you up with access to the printer. Have you contacted them? Quote
gsksun4 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Not trying to hijack the thread, because I'm having a similar problem. ReMark, is it possible that R14 is incapable of recognizing a present day plotter? My 2009LT can find it, but R14 can't. It can see my old HP 700 plotter, but can't see the company's new HPLJ 510 plotter. Both are network plotters. Quote
ReMark Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It's possible yes. You might find this of interest. It's from AutoDesk re: ADI and HDI drivers. "AutoCAD® Release 14 and earlier releases used the system printer ADI driver to print data through the Windows system printer. In AutoCAD® 2000 and later releases, the print format has changed to HDI, which provides additional features and requires that the system printer HDI driver be used." Quote
rkmcswain Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It's a network printer So when you go to [start>Printers and Faxes] (in Windows) and the list of printers appears, this printer is not listed? Quote

I thought there was some way R14 might be able to use an HDI driver, but it doesn't look like it. I followed your lead to Autodesk and the drivers and didn't see anything to that effect. It's HDI for 2000 and up like you said. It's just like the releases, you can go down and work, but you can't go up to a higher release and work. My 2002LT and 2006LT can see my old plotter. Quote
