Assembly tangents and continuous surfaces

In the realm of putting together an assembly, I want for Inventor to recognize a continuous surface, despite there being a couple of seams (perfectly tangent seams even).

 

I have found that if the line used to create a surface was not a single line, or spline, then the surface created will be in multiple segments which then limits the functionality of an assembly tangent constraint using that surface - even if the line segments are tangent.

 

Is there a method for solving this trouble?

 

Attached file, rod.zip, is an example assembly with a couple rods tangent to the slots cut in side by side plates.

When creating a surface, if its loft, or stitch of whatever there is an option that says "merge tangent faces". if you dont select this option you will get those split lines on tangent faces.

Attached is an example three part assembly with a couple rods tangent to the slots cut in side by side plates.

 

Do not use tangent for pins in slots. Use transitional. Transitional will go across different faces - even around sharp 90° corners. I do not see assembly attachment?

shift1313 - the surface created was the result of a extruded cut or a sweep

Did you roll up the EOP? Did you zip the file(s)? Are the *.zip less than 250k

O.K. - files now correctly attached to the original message (and tested). (Yes, definitely a newbie to the forum, but improving.) Thanks again.

In the files you attached you still had tangent - you need to remove those.

 

Also, in the real world nothing can be made to exact sizes. And even if it could you cannot move a part through a slot of exactly the same size (at least not without significant force). Add some clearance and account for manufacturing tolerances of your pins/slots.
