linnmaster Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hi. Is it possible to reduce the size of the .idw to send to print? We have an old A1 plotter that I don't think can handle 24mb of data that sends when you print a particular .idw file from Inventor 2010, and ends up printing with half of the information missing from the drawing. Thanks, David Quote
Safwah Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hmm, only thing i can think of is either print a smaller page size or print as pdf first. Quote
slegger Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 we have similar problem with HP Designjet. try going into the printer setting itself not thru inventor and in printing preferences - advance tab - we have an option under proccess document our options are .....in printer or ....in computer. When in computer is selected it will use the computer memory to print istead of the printers memory. Worth a try Quote
linnmaster Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 I tried to pint to PDF (it's A1), and when it sends to the printer, it's even worse (much worse) at like 118mb, rather than 24mb through Inventor. Yes, we use HP DesignJet also, model 430. Do you go through via control panel settings? I'll give it a go when the printer is back online! Thanks heaps! Quote
slegger Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Ours is Hp DesignJet 450C yes go to printers and faxs in control panel right click printer properties general - click Pirinting Preferences advance tab you should see it in there You may have to get a updated driver from HP to get this option. Cheers let us know how you go Quote
linnmaster Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 OK. For some reason, using computer memory to print results in all text not showing ... all lines and geometry show however. This doesn't just apply for Inventor, but AutoCAD also. Not sure quite what the case is with that. However, I've found a work around ... save the Inventor .idw file to Inventor .dwg file and open from ACAD2010 to print. Becomes 1.4mb or there abouts. Prints sweet! Quote
