i'm looking for structural steel symbols for autocad - i've been using autodesk Symbols 2000 for the past couple of years (using the green steel construction book) - but i've been noticing that some beam size dont exist in todays world - i'm now using the black steel construction book - 13th edition - is there software out there that has current steel shapes - any help would be great

thanks

I use a program called "multisuite" at my job, which is a add-on for AutoCAD. Its great and has all the standard structural shapes. Its really easy to use as well. Can model up a entire plant in about 2 hours or less!

2004...to bad. Can't use Dynamic Blocks.

For anyone that is interested, if you join AUGI (membership is free) you can take advantage of a nice array of dynamic blocks (free for the sharing) found at their website. One such dynamic block is for steel shapes.

By the way, block libraries of structural shapes are available for purchase from third-party providers. A simple Internet search should turn up several. If you go that route pay attention to price but don't neglect to verify the blocks will work with your version of AutoCAD. Symbol libraries will tend to be a cheaper alternative to full-fledged add-on structural steel programs.
