Mtext slow to start

When I first start Mtext in a session it takes a long time for it to initialize.

 

After that it opens fine.

 

Don’t know that it matters but I’m using C3D 2010 on a 64 bit machine.

Have you downloaded and installed either/or Update 1 or 2 for Civil 3D 2010?

Can you define "a long time"?

 

It's normal for Mtext to take a few seconds to initialize the first time you use it in a session, but after that it should open quickly. If it's taking longer than 4 or 5 seconds to initialize the first time, then something may be wrong.

The first time you execute MText, it has to load the required .arx file.

- ReMark – It has been happening since I loaded it up… I’m currently running Civil 3D 2010 version 3

 

- Cad64 - Its taking about 4 minutes to load up.

Is this a networked computer or standalone?

Stand alone - but working in a network enviroment (pulling some common files)

Are "fonts" considered common files?

Yes I'm pulling fonts from the network.

Maybe that's part of the problem.
