camillegabriella Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hey there, I'm pretty new at AutoCad, basically teaching myself and have a few questions/problems that are probably obvious but I'm lost : (. I have a drawing and for my class it has to be on a titleblock. So how do I put my existing drawing, thats on the model tab, onto one of the Autocad templates? And then how do I set it up to print 11x17? Any help would be sooo appreciated! Quote
ReMark Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 You can save your drawing as a template file (file extension is dwt). Is the printer you'll be using already installed under Windows? If so, it is most likely the default printer. AutoCAD, because it is a Windows compliant program, should recognize it. The paper sizes your printer supports should be available to you in AutoCAD in the Plot dialog window. Have you checked? Quote
ReMark Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Re: Plot dialog window. Select your printer in the Printer/Plotter section where it says Name: The default might be set to None. Click on the arrow to the right to see a list of available printers. Move down to the Paper size section. Using the arrow to the right preview all the paper sizes your printer supports. Make your selection. Other options you'll have to indicate are Plot style table and Drawing orientation. Quote

Now you will create a viewport with the MVIEW command, but first create a layer called MVIEW and set it to no plot. Now start the MVIEW command and pick two opposite corners inside your title block. Your model will show and will fill the viewport. Double click inside the viewport, use the View Port Scale Control toolbar to set the plot scale. I don't know what you are drawing so I can't guess a scale. Or you can type Zoom, enter, 1/48xp (for a 1/4"=1' plot scale), enter. Double click outside the viewport. When you plot you will select a plotter capable of that size drawing, pick the 11x17 sheet size, use layout to plot to, pick a plot style, pick ok Quote
