Y+PChris Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 I have an intermittent problem, in ACLt '06. On certain drawings, when I double-click in viewports that aren't locked they will zoom to extents, even when they have been set up to a certain scale. The annoying thing is, not only does it zoom the selected viewport, it zooms every other unlocked viewport in the layout. Does that make sense? and more importantly, how do I stop it from doing this? Thanks Quote
Y+PChris Posted October 28, 2005 Author Posted October 28, 2005 also I've just discovered that if you double click on a locked viewport, it still zooms out in all the unlocked ones!!!!! This is very irritating! Quote
Kate M Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 UCSFOLLOW, set it to 0 in all your viewports. Quote
designerstuart Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 i like to have UCSFOLLOW set to 1, but if you are going to do this it is worth knowing that you must also be rigourous with locking your viewports. it's an old argument in offices, do you have UCSFOLLOW=1 and lock all viewports, or UCSFOLLOW=0 and leave them unlocked. it has to be one or the other. Cad64 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Wow, this is a really old thread. it's an old argument in offices, do you have UCSFOLLOW=1 and lock all viewports, or UCSFOLLOW=0 and leave them unlocked. it has to be one or the other. Why would you leave your viewports unlocked? Once you get them set the way you want them, you should lock them to prevent accidental zooming or panning. I leave UCSFOLLOW set to 0 and always lock my viewports once I get them set. Quote
FieldGuyonCAD Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 To be honest I do not even know what locking a viewport means...I just know that that setting fixed my issue...thus any explaination you can provide me would be helpful! Thanks again Quote
Cad64 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 To be honest I do not even know what locking a viewport means...thus any explaination you can provide me would be helpful! I thought I already did? Once you get them set the way you want them, you should lock them to prevent accidental zooming or panning. When you lock a viewport, you can no longer double click into it and zoom or pan around. The view is locked in place so you can't accidentally, or purposely, move the view around. You can still draw and edit entities inside the viewport, but you cannot alter the view in any way, unless you unlock the viewport. From the Autocad Help files: Once you set the viewport scale, you cannot zoom within a viewport without changing the viewport scale. By locking the viewport scale first, you can zoom in to view different levels of detail in your viewport without altering the viewport scale. Scale locking locks the scale that you set for the selected viewport. Once the scale is locked, you can continue to modify the geometry in the viewport without affecting the viewport scale. If you turn a viewport's scale locking on, most of the viewing commands, such as VPOINT, DVIEW, 3DORBIT, PLAN, and VIEW, no longer function in that viewport. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I had one drawing recently that would rescale the viewports with no user input they were locked etc tried purge audit wblock recover DXf nothing would fix it, just had to bang the head on the wall and keep going, had to finish the job to far into it to start again. Important thing here is that it is one only DWG that it happens to. Just put it down to screwed drawing. The world keeps turning doesn't it ? Quote
