Downloading USGS maps for civil use

Recommended Posts

I was told that I could down load USGS contour maps and place them in a dwg format in my drawings.

Is anyone else aware of this?

I did perform a search of USGS downloads but have not had any success.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Seek and ye shall find.

U.S. Coast and Geodetic quadrangle maps can be downloaded for free at this site:

http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/b2c/start/(xcm=r3standardpitrex_prd)/.do

Look to the right for the words Dowload Topo Maps Free. That's where you start.

I just download a 6.97MB zip file of the Naugatuck, CT quadrangle map and it took 1 minute 54 seconds. I haven't opened the zip file yet so I don't know what format the map is in.

For anyone who is interested the file type is PDF.
