jwirtz Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Few upfront notes: autocad mechanical 2009 File is about 30mb once bound, it causes the same problem with the models as xrefs or 3d solids.... Hi, I am having trouble with an assy and creating a solview/draw of the objects. I have bound all the objects and gotten rid of all the xrefs and blocks. When I go to take a solview it starts the comand and begins with the first couple of options, it asks what scale then when it props for view center click on the screen then it errors out example below: Invalid option keyword. (but about 75times) Invalid color. Type three comma separated values from 0 to 255. (but about 75times) Invalid color. Type three comma separated values from 0 to 255. SOLVIEW ucs option failed. Red,Green,Blue: Invalid color. Type three comma separated values from 0 to 255 It then exits out of the solview and does not let you continue. I am having this problem with a few of the larger assy that have lots of parts that were originally xrefed in. At one point I was able to get it to work if: I moved everything to one layer have everything with the same color Purge all blocks Purge all layers Then it would allow me to do a solview, is there away around this and what is it that is causing the problem.? It is a real pain trying to do this every time we try to create a drawing of an assembly. I have used this with other assy and not had the same problems just with this large master assy. Thanks so much for your help. Quote
ReMark Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I think the problem is that you're using parts that were Xrefed in. Quote
jwirtz Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Ya but when you bind them to the current dwg and then explode all the blocks till allyou have left is 3d solids it should work, If you couldn't use solview (make drawings) with anything that had once been xrefed then what would be the point of xrefing in the first place Just a thought Quote
ReMark Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 That's a wonderful assumption but what else could explain the problem? I've used Solview and Soldraw on numerous occasions and have never had a problem. But then I don't Xref anything in. Quote
hazmat Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Soldraw will not work with xrefs. Solview will work. I had this problem when some of the drawings xref'd in had the symbol "#" in the name of the file. I renamed these files removing the "#" symbol and solview worked fine. Soldraw worked fine until they "upgraded" my system to 2010...now it will not work with xref's. Quote
Guest Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I don't know if this will help at all, as I am using Auto CAD 2008. I have a few hang-ups with the SOLDRAW command as well. But normally it will kick me out of Auto CAD all together, when I try to SOLDRAW. I can get it to work fine, but all that I do is save the drawing close it, then open it back up. I have found that when I explode blocks using Quick Select from the pull down menu that I get this error. Quote
jwirtz Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 To fix the problem we just went back to flatshot and solprof for our larger assy as we didnt find a work around, smaller assy and parts solview/draw seems to work great, just not on the bigger stuff. Quote
