David VT Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 This is the craziest thing i have ever encountered in CAD. With OSNAP turned off, i draw a line in the middle of the screen. In the properties dialog box the line has a start point of 0 and an end point of 0. Then i turn the line into a polyline. Then the properties dialog box shows the polyline with an elevation of 10.11. I then change the elevation of the polyline to 0. Then i explode the polyline and it has a start point of 10.11 and an end point of 10.11. This just keeps happening every time i turn a line into a polyline. My goal is to be able to turn the line into a polyline with an elevation of 0. I need the polylines to calculate areas. My entire drawing is made up of just lines. Its taking forever to turn everything into a polyline and get an accurate area from the it. I tried the flatten command. Please help. Thanks, David Quote
CarlB Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 yes sounds very strange. How are you turning it into a polyline? When you use "list" does it give same info as "properties"? Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Invoke the Change command and use the Elevation option. Window your entire drawing and change the elevation of all objects to 0.00. Quote
David VT Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 When i list the line it states that the Z coordinate is 0. I am using the Pedit command and then join, to make the polyline. Quote
gutter2d Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I'm having the same problem as the OP. I tried using the change-ELEV command, but that didn't work. It's really annoying to have to manually change the attributes of each polyline to ELEV=0 before you can trim/extend the line. Quote
BIGAL Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) Make sure in your prototype that elev is set to 0.0 and probably thickness also. If Elev is non zero the any lines etc will be drawn at that elevation and not a z of 0.0 its handy for 3d stuff but you must always remember to set it back to 0.0 just changing elev does not reset it for anything previously drawn running flatten and elev not zero may give an odd answer. just a thought check your ucs is not flat but with an elevation this would make properties say z=0 but in world is at some other value.
