Phil-Bert Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Using AutoCAD 2010. Can anyone give me some information about opening a file that may contain incorrect or corrupted information? I try to open a file, it shows a preview in the open dialog window, but when i push the open button, I get the following message: Unable to open this drawing. It contains incorrect or corrupted information. The RECOVER command may be able to restore undamaged material from this drawing. When I try the recover command on the drawing, Autocad shuts down part way thru. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bert Quote
Phil-Bert Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. Told me it may need to be recovered. Quote
fuccaro Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 The Partial Open helped me once or twice. Also it worth to try importing the drawing in an other software that can open DWGs, like SolidWorks. Quote
Phil-Bert Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 What version was the drawing saved in? It was saved in 2010. I am using 2010. Quote

Phil-Bert Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Have you tried using DWG TrueView? I tried TrueView also and Microstation. The only other option I can come up with is that there is some kind of security setting on it. We are going to contact the originator of the drawing and hopefully they can help. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. Quote
ReMark Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 If it had security on it you would get a vastly different message. Can you post the file and let someone here have a go at it? Quote

Hoozin Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 One last try: Open a blank drawing and INSERT the bad drawing as a block. Quote
Jadeous Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Using ACAD 2010 Resently changed from 2005 OS - Windows 7 Home Pre, 64bit I have had this very same problem that arose only days ago. I can open these files in 2005 just fine, yet if i try to open in 2010 I get that message. But only on "select" dwg's, not all. Quote
Jadeous Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 This is an example of one of the drawings that I get that message with. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance. P3.0.dwg Quote
