Chonk Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Hey guys i need a little advice on the best software for unwrapping 3d objects to a flat blue print then tracing them to material to stitch up. I was thinking solid works or autocad inventor has anyone had any experience with creating soft material objects like, kites, hot air baloons, etc. Quote
Tiger Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 From what little I know about Inventor I know that it has a Flat Pattern command - intended use is steel plates. Might be what you are after- Are you looking for a new software to purchase? Quote
Chonk Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Hmm I wondering if it can unwrap cylindrical objects accurately... Plus the materials I will be using are very strong fabrics for para gliders and kites I don't know how that will react and if it can calculate surface tension=(. At the moment I'm just looking for what software would be ideal for this project. If I can find something with all the features I need then I will start thinking of purchasing it. Quote
Tiger Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I suggest to contact autodesk and solidworks and perhaps Bentley (microstation) re-sellers in your area and ask for demonstrations. If you provide them with some specifics on what you are looking for, I am sure they can show you how it's done. For Inventor specific, there is a guy here, JD Mather that have a lot of information about Inventor, take a look at some of his posts. Quote
