Zarrar Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Hi, I opened my AutoCAD 2009 dwg file on another computer at the college library which was using AutoCAD 2010 and then saved it. When I got home i couldnt open the file in my AutoCAD 2009 app. I downloaded DWG Trueview and converted the file to 2007 format (in-place), but when I tried opening the file it would load up to 99% and then gives a "fatal error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffff Exception at 11c775dh" Has anyone had a similar problem? I tried to convert it to all the different formats (2000, 2004, standard) still doesn't work. I would appreciate any help. I would really appreciate any help guidance! Thanks Best Zarrar Quote
Car5858 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Look in your files for the backup copy. Rename that with a dwg ext. This may not work but it worth a try. Or you can attach the file and someone can correct the problem for you. Quote
Zarrar Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 thank you so much! I did find a backup and it worked, but I really want the trueview conversion to work. (HW problems are in 2010 format and I want to do them on my 2009 app) Do you know why I might be getting that error. Quote
Car5858 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 When you use 2010 you need to save to a lower file format with "save as" select the drop down menu near the file extension. Select 2007 format or lower. You can also change this in the "Options" under "Open and Save Tab" You may wish to check your system requirements for DWG Trueview http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/dwg_trueview_2011_system_requirements.pdf Quote
nukecad Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 You may also want to try downloading "DWGgateway" free from solidworks. It is an add on to Autocad that gives you a new menu and allows you to open any Autocad version from within your autocad session without having to use a seperate programme. Quote
rkmcswain Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 ...but I really want the trueview conversion to work. It sounds more like the original file was corrupt, and that is why the DTV conversion failed. Quote
Zarrar Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Thank you for all your replies. I will try the gateway program and check the original file. I appreciate your help very much. Best, Zarrar Quote
