Krztoff Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Hello, I was going through the closets at my office and found an Autocad Civil 3d 2009 dvd . It had all the stickers and information such as PART NO; DISTR. NO.; 2 SEATS, NEW SN, GROUP NAME, however where it says PRODUCT KEY it has N/A. Could this have been a demo version? Is there some other way to obtain a product key? It all looks pretty legit, total of 8 dvds in the box, including Vault. We have undergone some changes here in the company, there isn't anyone who could enlighten me about this software. All I know it was obtained during the wealthy timesh and was lying in the closet ever since. Thanks for any advice! Quote
edwinprakoso Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I think you don't need product key to install 2009 version. We need it for 2010 version, but not for 2009. And as far as I know the product key is generic. What you need is the serial number. If you want to be sure, check it with your reseller. They will confirm that for you. Quote
Krztoff Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 You were right edwinprakoso it didn't ask for the product key. However It seems that the serial number is no longer available, which is quite odd, since I doubt anyone has ever used this software. Will have to inquire about the SN. Quote
NaeKid Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I had a similar problem not long ago when I needed to transfer my copy of 2008 to a new machine. I went onto the AutoDesk website, found a questionaire, filled in the blanks and received a new code to work with the new computer. During the time that I waited for that information to be emailed to me, I was in a "30 day trial-mode" - allowed me to work till I was able to remove that screen-prompt. Quote
Krztoff Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Thanks NaeKid. I will try that as well then, I contacted our reseller but they are quite slow with answers, maybe people at Autodesk are more hasty Quote
edwinprakoso Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 The reason is probably your C3D serial number has been upgraded to 2010. You will get the upgraded version if you are on subscription. Therefore, you can't use the 2009 SN anymore. It has been replaced by the new one. You can use the 'try other method' way to activate your C3D and activate it by email. If the issue is the SN, then they will activate it anyway (only if you are on subscription), and mention that the SN has been upgraded. Quote
Krztoff Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 I contacted autodesk, 3 days and no reply, hopefully I will still get my answer some time. We didn't have subscription by time anymore Quote
Krztoff Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Nice! I got a reply from Autodesk that it is a network license for 2 seats and that I need to provide them with the Host Name and Host ID for the computers I will be installing the license file. I have never done this before, so maybe someone could explain how these network licenses work and what are those Host names and Host Id's? Another question, will it be possible to use that program on any office computer (as long as no more than 2 people are using it at a time) or only on 2 computers that it has been installed on? Quote
