BenE Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I'm not sure what happened, but for some reason, when I open Civil 3D, it can't find certain .dll's and is missing components. My inquiry tool buttons are visible, but they don't work, my toolspace doesn't work, and half of the drop down menus are not visible (including "General"). I can temporarily fix this by loading my custom profile in the Options Menu to get my menus back, and loading .arx files with APPLOAD to make my tools work, but I'd like it to just work properly in the first place. Any tips? -Ben Quote
ReMark Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Try the REPAIR option first (need installation CD). If that fails use Add/Remove Software to remove the program and then do a new install. Quote
BenE Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks, ReMark. This happened after running the FLATTEN command. I've got a feeling that I'm overlooking something here, since I can load the tools and change the profile just fine. Quote
ReMark Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Is this a networked computer or a standalone? Quote
BenE Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 So I believe that I have stumbled upon the solution to my problem. I right clicked on the Autocad Civil 3D Icon, and in the properties box, the Target was set to "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\acad.exe" /p ">". I changed the path to "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008\acad.exe" /p ">" (the name of my custom profile), and now everything loads correctly. Not really sure how this got screwed up to start with, but the problem appears to be solved. Could the missing .dll's have been due to the wrong profile loading initially? -Ben Quote
ReMark Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 BenE: Glad to hear the problem appears to be solved. Thanks for the explanation too. It might come in handy for someone else with a similar issue. Not sure about the missing .dlls but I guess it is possible. Makes me wonder what a "profile" really looks like. Note to oneself: try to open a profile with Notepad. Quote
