ViewCube orinetation, default, customise

Hello again. With Inventor view cube settings, is it just me or do others find the default settings really annoying? Going into application options/cutomise in the Inventor you can set the view cube orientatin, however, when doing so, applying the setting, closing down, restarting, firing Inventor back up, start a new part/assembly, view cube default does not change.

It just puzzles me why Inventor would have the default view cube orientation with "bottom" faced towards what I would call the front of the part. I have created a template for ipt, iam, ipn and set the home view to what I like it to what I think it should logically be, top on top, front on front, and right on the other visible side of the cube. However, because the settings in the Inventor application options doesn't seem to do anything, viewing the cube on TOP, with TOP right way around, and selecting the origin plane you are looking perpendicular to, it dives in and does a full 180 deg spin, so the "TOP" on the cube is upside down.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Regards,

David

It doesn't bother me... I always start sketches on diff planes depending on what I want to be the front or top of the part.

I kinda like the old View cube for inventor better. It was larger and easier to orient parts. For me anyway.

I did reverse my zoom, however, to match AutoCAD's. It helps when I am switching from one to the other...

That was one thing that I didn't like about Inventor. After working with AutoCAD for years, then moving on to Inventor, and having a mouse that zoomed the other direction... Well, that just didn't sit right with me. I sure am glad that I found that reverse option in the Tools > Application pull down.

Actually AutoCAD is wrong. Inventor is correct. Roll the mouse away from you the part moves away from you. Roll the mouse towards you the part moves towards you. Same in Pro/E and SolidWorks. Behavior mimics real world.

You can change the AutoCAD Options for correct mouse behavior to mimic the real world movement.

I think that sort of this is purely preference, you can't say which is right or wrong, its which ever you prefer. In the same way others have said, i changed mine to match autocad because i was used to that, i only used inventor for a little while and got used to how its default is, but use both now and roll forward to zoom in is more intuitive
