Neil66 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Hi folks - hope someone can help here..? I'm using ACAD LT 2010 and have an issue with PICKFIRST: regardless of what I do or what the variable is set to, the selection method is always command first. This is not a case of PICKFIRST resetting to or similar.. acad just will not select-then-command I'm doing simple 2D drawings and have "mastered" my technique selecting first and find this increasingly frustrating. I've searched google, I've searched this foruum & come accross problems where PICKFIRST seems to reset for folks but that's not the issue.. I've switched is off / swithced it on swithed it off/ rebooted / switched it in switched all the pick variables to 0 & rebooted switched all pick variables to 1 & rebooted I'm at the point where if this was my own machine I'd reinstall the programme but it's not & I guess IT help will be slower then a slow thing.. ANY help much appreciated!! Oh & hi by the way - I'm a newbie to the forum but not to Acad!! Cheers, Neil. Quote
merdrignac Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hi Neil Welcome to the forum. I might be a bit naive here, but have you tried setting "pickfirst" under "options, selection tab, noun/verb selection checkbox" ? Just a thought. Quote
Neil66 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Hi NeilWelcome to the forum. I might be a bit naive here, but have you tried setting "pickfirst" under "options, selection tab, noun/verb selection checkbox" ? Just a thought. Hi merdrignac, thanks for the welcome - yeah I've tried it both command line & via the options dialogue - to no avail... It's driving me mad - even when noun verb selection is ticked, the program uses command first. Surf back to the options & it's still selected... I guess I'm going to have to get IT to reinstall... what a pain, bring back the days of admin privileges!!! Quote
merdrignac Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Are you running any Lisp routines regularly or have you rotated a view in a paperspace viewport? both these can set 'Pickfirst' to 0! Quote
Neil66 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Are you running any Lisp routines regularly or have you rotated a view in a paperspace viewport? both these can set 'Pickfirst' to 0! No lisp routines & no rotated views - the variable is not getting set to , it stays at but STILL the programme uses command first - this is what is driving me mad:shock: Quote
merdrignac Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Might be an idea to check in the CUI to see if the macros for the commands you are trying to use are prefixed by ^C^C , this would cancel your selection. If they are then removing it should set things straight. If not, then I'm afraid I've run out of ideas, and you'll have to call in the heavy brigade (IT). Best of luck Quote
ReMark Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Did you download and install Update 1 for 2010 yet? Quote
ReMark Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Do not reinstall. Try the Repair option first. The value for Pickfirst is stored in the Windows' Registry. Since you have to rely upon IT even for something as basic as loading software I don't see any chance what-so-ever of them letting you hack the Registry to physically change the value for Pickfirst which is something I would consider prior to removing and then reinstalling AutoCAD LT. Sometimes brute force is the only available option. Since LT does not make use of AutoLisp I'd would rule out lisp routines as a source of the problem. Quote
Neil66 Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks Guys - I'm offshore now floating around on an oil rig so don't have access to my desktop - I'll have to see what I can do when I get back. No I certainly won't have access to the registry so there's little I can do other than get IT to reinstall or learn the command first method... Cheers, Neil. Quote
ReMark Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 AutoDesk has recommendations regarding preparing a system for a reinstallation. Might want to review them just in case. Good luck. Quote
Emmanuel Delay Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 ... regardless of what I do or what the variable is set to, the selection method is always command first. ... and have "mastered" my technique selecting first and find this increasingly frustrating. ... I had the exact same thing. I think I just found the answer, here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2010/PICKFIRST-is-set-to-1-but-AutoCAD-is-ignoring-it/m-p/2794486 What did it for me (I hope it keeps working; knock on wood ...) was command: QAFLAGS change it to 0 Quote
