Drawing fences ?!

if you want to draw a simple fence you might want to draw it by using dynamic block. it all works well until you want to change the way they are set up vertically or creating a look they have while being mounted on stairs. I've added two files - one with a dynamic block of a fence, and other with some designs i want to achieve by a simple to use dynamic block.

If you have suggestions on how to accomplish this, or my approach is faulty let me know. only way i see it possible to get the desired shapes maintaining the functionality of a dynamic block is by adding a vertical parameter with stretch action, then manually adjusting them one by one. Should i try to add some dimensional/geometric constraints???

all input is highly appreciated

sorry to bump this, but i would like to get some proper input if possible. tnx

For drawing a simple fence I'd use a custom linetype created with the MKSHAPE and MKLTYPE commands found under Express Tools. Maybe a Dynamic block for a simple fence is a bit overkill for some people thus accounting for the lack of "eyes" on your post.

Maybe this will keep it in the limelight just a tad longer. Let's see what happens.

tnx for the link Tankman, but i reckon the easiest thing would be to just custom linetype it... will try it out today if i get some time off from work...

I gave you a complimentary "bump" but I guess it wasn't enough to catch someone's interest. Sorry about that.

My guess is how detailed do you need the fences?

Yes, perhaps, a custom linetype would be the easiest? How detailed do the fences need to be?

Fences in plan view wouldn't have to be detailed at all. Just an appropriate symbol. But if you were creating a fence in elevation as part of a detail then perhaps a dynamic block might have some usefulness.

I have to admit I did not open any of your files.

well the main issue i'm facing with is the problem of "user friendly" fence. In Docx there are views of how a fence should look like. Now i can manage to pull it off by a simple yet complex dynamic block but it's hard manual work to set the poles to a height described by a curve of some sort / vertically speaking.

The fence should keep it's distance between the poles and basic shape, and should be able to present it self in different varieties of vertical shape + alignment when being implemented on stairs...
