drukkenpoepen Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Hey guys, is it possible to render text and measurements in AutoCAD 2008? If so, is the line weight defined the same as in 2D plotting? cheers. Quote
ReMark Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 A rendering usually does not contain text and dimensions that's what you're 2D representations of your 3D geometry are for. I would think the results, if it could be done, would be less than satisfactory and would detract from the rendering itself. Quote
David Bethel Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I do it every so often but as special circumstance. It can be a pain in my scenario as I have turn the text into geometry. Maybe true type fonts can render directly. I've never tried. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=43299 -David Quote
drukkenpoepen Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 So you turn the text into a solid, if I understand you correctly. As I studied your link you send me, why don't you just plot the blueprint as a high-res .jpg and then just import it as an image, or turn it into a material and just apply it to the surface? Quote

Yes, that is correct. why don't you just plot the blueprint as a high-res .jpg and then just import it as an image, or turn it into a material and just apply it to the surface? I work with older software that doesn't know anything about producing jpgs. And I developed this approach a long time ago. Also I'm not real proficient at bringing in decals to a exact scale and precise locations. It isn't very time consuming for me now and I've done it so many times and don't have to think ( I'm lazy, I know ) -David Quote
drukkenpoepen Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 No worries mate, I guess that's how we all work, once one methodology is being used for a significant period, it's hard to change that habit. It's very annoying when you're forced to do so though, like when updating to a newer operating system, I guess that's why you use older software. Quote
