muck Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Can you change text width on existing dimensions? Thank you, Quote
Fire_col Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 No need to venture ReMark, You most certainly can! Quote
Rebel Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 There a couple different ways to do this. One is to select the dimension, and then take a look at your properties pallete. Find "text override" under the text options, and type in whatever your heart desires. Alternatively, you can type DIMEDIT into the command line, then N for new, and an mtext window will pop up with a 0" in it, if you erase that, the dimension will be completely overridden (is that a word?), if you leave it there, and add text around it (before, after, under etc.) your existing dimension will remain, along with the text you want to add. I like this option, because you can add multiple rows of text. Once you have your text, click outside the mtext box, and then select the dimensions you want to reflect the text. close the command and you're done! Quote
ReMark Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 The OP wanted to know if the w i d t h of the text, not the text itself, could be altered. Quote
Rebel Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Ha, my apologies. When I read width, i took it as the width dimension Quote
muck Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 I have 1/8" high string text that was had .8 inches width. My text in my dimensions did not have a width factor. When I hit properties for a selected dim I did not find a width setting. So I was wondering how to set the width of the dim text to match my string text? Assuming the dim text height & text strings had the same height. Thank you, Quote
ReMark Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 From whence cometh the text style, font, width, etc. that you use when you dimension? Does the answer Text Style ring any bells? Quote
Eatonpcat Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Maybe I'm missing something here (usually am), but when I change the width of dimension text, I Highlight the text and change the width factor within the text formatting box!! width.dwg Quote
LearningQuickly Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 If you still need some help on this, try the EDIT command on the selected dimensions. From there you can use the MText Format Dialog Box to change the text width. Quote
DODGE Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Can you change text width on existing dimensions?Thank you, Can you not just type ED and then click on the dimension, change from there. Is that what you want. Dodge Quote
Tankman Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Express tools>text>text fit Simple enough with express tools if you want to stretch text. Early AM, not runnin' on all 8 cylinders, I'll have to try stretching a dimension later AM. Quote
