Christos Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I run Auto Cadd Civil 2009 and when it gets started it comes up as a 3D although 2D is checked. I do not know if I inadvertently changed any settings in the computer that caused the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Quote
ReMark Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Have you tried changing the Workspace you're in? Quote
sinc Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I run Auto Cadd Civil 2009 and when it gets started it comes up as a 3D although 2D is checked. Can you elaborate? What do you mean by "2D is checked"? Quote
MikeScott Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Possibly they meant the shade setting was set to 2d wireframe? Are you veiwing things from an angle, is that what you're concerned about? Quote
Christos Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 I am not familiar with Cadd terminology that well I just started so please bare with me. At the bottom where all the buttons are for object snap, polar tracking, model and paper space there is a gear that has the 2D option if it is checked the 2D program comes on. It used to do it in the beginning but I think something got changed and 3D is always on now although the 2D under the gear option is selected. I am not concerned about viewing drawings in an angle I am concerned that I do not know what I am doing so I want to start with 2D and some Isometric first and then move on to 3D. By the way do you know any good resources I can use to teach my self? I appreciate all your responses. Thank you Quote
Dana W Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 There are choices in the View dropdown for 3D views, 2D views and Isometric. I think that is the one you want to look at. That will change the way the workspace selection operates no matter which one you are in. (I think. At least its a probablility) EDIT: Oops, I think that is the same as MikeScott's suggestion. Quote
MikeScott Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 nope.. but even if it was, it's always cool by me to rephrase what I said to make it clearer. Quote

A couple of the default ones are "2D Drafting and Annotation" and "3D Modeling", among others. Workspaces are nothing more than a layout of toolbars, menus, and palettes. In other words, they control what tools you have visible on the screen. You can setup individual Workspaces however you want. However, Workspaces are not "programs". They are simply layouts of toolbars, menus, and palettes. The "2D Drafting and Annotation" contains a bunch of items that Autodesk thinks are useful if you are doing that type of work, and the "3D Modeling" contains a bunch of items that Autodesk thinks are useful if you are doing that type of work. You can create your own Workspaces if you wish. I think you're probably looking for one of the other things mentioned. Possibly your View needs to be set to Top, or your Visual Style needs to be set to 2D-Wireframe, or both... Quote
ScribbleJ Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 A quick and easy way to get back out of a 3D view is an old command. Type PLAN in your command line. Quote
