uhcafigdc Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Trying to Publish to PDF using AutoCAD 2007, and PDF Creator. The filename is cut off when using the replacement token . I think it is a generally understood fact that AutoCAD 2007's built-in DWF to PDF driver produces sub-par quality results. So, I am using PDF Creator. In order to not be prompted for a filename on each sheet when publishing a list of drawings, I use PDF Creator's auto-save. To set the filename to the sheet name, I use the replacement token . This works fine in some other versions of AutoCAD, but in 2007 this token does not always work correctly, and the sheet name is cut down to just a few characters. It turns out that RedMon is a component of PDF Creator that monitors the printer port. I want to assume its doing its job just fine, because the token comes out just fine printing the same sheets with the same version of PDF Creator using a different version of AutoCAD on another computer. Has anyone encountered this? Edit: it looks like that when printing from AutoCAD 2007, the filename gets cut off after the last "." character in the sheet name. Quote
MotoGirl Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I use bullzip pdf printer, acts like an actually printer, works great every time, with any program not just cad. I went through 4 or 5 different ones to find it, and it's free.... Quote

I tured Bullzip PDF Printer just now, and the and replacement tokens really didn't work very well. Both produced something like "C__Folder" as the complete file name, where C is the drive letter and Folder is the first folder that the drawing sits in. Quote

uhcafigdc Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Actually, it looks like Bullzip's replacement tokens and are exactly the same as PDF Creator's and . They work fine with AutoCAD LT 2006, but with AutoCAD 2007 the filename stops at the last "." character in the sheet name. I am guessing that both PDF Creator and Bullzip PDF Printer monitor the printer port in the same way to get those values. huh? The point of this thread is that I am trying to plot to PDF without being prompted for a filename (using a replacement token instead of prompt). It looks like AutoCAD 2007 is not sending the right data so that these two programs can assume the filename correctly. It cuts the name off after the last "." character in the filename. AutoCAD LT 2006 sends it just fine. Why the heck would AutoCAD shorten the sheet name like this when sending the postscript data? What can I do? Pee in the sink? Quote
