i am trying to make a file for our plasma cutter to cut numbers out of steel, is there a way to convert text directly to an outline so the machine can read it?

i searched and found that already, but i don't have express tools and they weren't on my install disc either as far as i know

is there another way?

Express Tools should have come standard (somewhere on disk). I wonder if they can be downloaded from the site.

Try WMFOUT and WMFIN (not sure if they are Express Tools).

that's for importing and exporting wmf files, and i don't know what those are or how they would help

There should have been an option when you first installed Mech 2009 for also installing Express Tools. If you have the original installation disk get it out. Then go to the Windows Control Panel and find the Add/Remove feature. Additional content can be added, after-the-fact, via Add/Remove.

Right, if you WMFOUT the text, then WMFIN the created file, it will break all your text into lines. That's basically all TXTEXP does. You should have given them a try.

Correct. Hopefully you can find and install ET.
