eturner Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 When I have the dwg file window maximized, i see the path of the file (but NOT the file name) up in the task bar. Under options-->open and save, I've toggled back and forth the "display full path in title" option. When I click it off, it displays just the filename. What I'm trying to get is the file path AND the file name up there. Any ideas? Quote
Dana W Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 It works for me when I have it checked on. Is your path so long that it truncates the file name off? My current file is the seventh level from C:/ of the directory tree. If it were one more, it would run up under the search info center box. Quote
Tankman Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 It works for me, a number of computers, works on all of them. I think Dana W hit the nail on the head, "Is your path so long that it truncates the file name off?" Quote
eturner Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 yes, that does appear to be the issue. the project i'm in now is buried within numerous folders. since i don't have the ability to move files / simplify the folders, is there a way to get autocad to abbreviate the beginning of the path? Like use: "...folder/folder/file.dwg" ? thanks, Erik Quote
Dana W Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 The only other control I can find for that is in Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Folder Opions > View > Files and Folders. There is the very same switch, but I tested it and AutoCAD overrides it, in either direction. I don't think there is anything you can do about it short of getting rid of the Search Info Center tool bar, but I am not sure even that will work. I hope they are not forcing you to work with a drawing file on a server. Quote
eturner Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 the drawing file is on a shared drive- so it's plenty fast if that was your concern? thanks for thinking about my issue... i've come to realize that my current project is a bit out of the ordinary in that it has so many smaller subprojects, and therefore folders. So I'll be happy to get on a larger project where I can read my filenames w/o clicking on window each time! thanks, Erik Quote
Dana W Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Or a wide screen monitor. You can try the control panel appearance display advanced settings (that may not be the right order) and reduce the size of the text in the window title bar, but that will only get you so far and it gets smaller in both directions at once. Tankman Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 What? Doesn't everybody keep those current? I've been using '05 and/or '07 for a number of years. Did service packs in the beginning, now, never. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Quote
alanjt Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Except Autodesk has an affinity for broken releases. Quote
