pinco pallino Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Sheet metal: lofted elliptic cone how to do it? the funnel in the pic. has an elliptic base and a circular top. Is lofted with no rails as a surface and thicken offset. Converted the part to Sheet Metal adjusted the thickness in SM Styles. Selected the surface and clicked Flat Pattern... I get an error message. I tried the Hem tool and wouldn't pick the edges on the straight cut. Is it possible to get a flat pattern on a part of this kind? thanks. Quote
shift1313 Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Inside a sheet metal part there is a feature called Lofted Flange. You can create that with the lofted flange. You will have several options in there. One of them will be die formed and to get that nice smooth shape you will need it. If you use the Press Brake method you will have faceted sides. the image is press brake and die formed for an elliptical cone. Quote
