buzzkill Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hi, I made a new railing style in autocad architecture 2008, that has ornate curvy wrought iron filigree in place of balusters, also has a custom profile for the handrail. looks great on a straight run of stairs. Whenever i attach it to a spiral stair everything goes out the door. the handrail becomes very choppy and segmented (almost stair step in its shape), the filigree wont bend with the rail curve. this has been killing me for the past four hours! would anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for any help. John Quote
BIGAL Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Search here for stuff on "spiral stairs" there are other entries. Also one solution its a little complicated but works you create one tread only in full 3D, then just copy, rotate and change height to tread ht. you can create an arc path in 3d for hand rail then extrude a shape along it. You need three 3D points to set your ucs to 2 for x and 1 for y you can then attach your shape to end of arc rotate3d to flip it 90 then extrude return back to world. A lisp helps to insert and rotate based on a couple of parameters but can be done manually. Hope this makes sense Quote
