the6thsens
Hi, I am an Autocad 2007 user at work, a joinery specialist company. We use loads of blocks and they have texts in them. These texts are basically the serial nos of each item(wooden sections) within the block. We use these serial nos to generate a cutting sheet which is sent out for manufacture. The difficulty i face is that, many of these blocks are repetitive but not in its absolute position. They are often rotated and mirrored. Hence when not in the absolute position the text within the blocks rotate and mirror accordingly. This doesn't help my cause in creating an overall layout with text in the same alignment. Could someone be able to guide me in this problem. Regards Anoop
Pablo Ferral
You could look at using Dynamic Blocks instead. Annotative blocks have a 'Rotate to viewport' property, but this won't help with mirroring.
fahim108
Use an attribute definition instead of plain annotation. First make an annotative Text Style and check the "match text orientation" thingy, I hope you have it in AutoCAD 2007... Type ATT Enter a TAG name (TAG1 or whatever) Enter a DEFAULT value (This would appear on the 'block') Justification > MIDDLE CENTER (This is important) Use the annotative Text Style Place this Attribute over the required object Make them a block (your object + this Attribute) For the "Edit Attributes", that pops up, hit Enter. Done! You may mirror or rotate this block without altering the text direction. Here's an example...
Pablo Ferral
Ahhh, I didn't realise it worked for mirror as well... Well done Fashim
KiLLiNG-TiME
Hi Fashim, i take this would only work for a block that is non-annotative & was to be used in paper space?
fahim108
...i take this would only work for a block that is non-annotative & was to be used in paper space... Contrary to that, it would only work for those blocks that DO contain an annotative attribute. And you may use it in model space too by updating your current annotative scale. P.S. my name is Fahim not FaShim... lol!
Jef!
If the attributes of your blocks are not annotative, to avoid that the text in the attributes switch side after the mirror command, you can set the MIRRTEXT to . The texts wont flip anymore upon using the mirror command, but that won't prevent it to rotate if you rotate the block. I hope it helps.. Jef!
