Paul Miller Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I have Solidworks 2008. For some reason my edit menu is gone. On the tree items, I was able to left click, and a menu would come up. It would allow me to edit the feature, or edit the sketch. Or, for example, with a new part, I used to be able to click on a plane, and the menu would allow me to create a drawing on that plane. Well, I click on the plane, and no menu pops up. If anyone has any idea what in the heck happened, I would appreciate the help. So far, I've done a clean uninstall. I have reinstalled it three times. I deleted all of my parts templates. I have no idea. And it's driving me nuts. Quote
shift1313 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Thats a strange problem. I know you can customize the shortcut menus(S on the keyboard) but that left click pop up has always been there for me. Ill do some digging around at work tomorrow(dont have SW at home). Quote
Paul Miller Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks a lot. I've tried for hours and have failed. I almost threw my mouse. I'm not very experienced at all. So all I was really doing was nonsense. Hopefully you, or someone will be able to help. Quote
shift1313 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 okay i think i figured it out. Go to Tools>Customize. On your Toolbars tab there is a box to the right that says Context toolbar settings. The Show on selection box is I think what you have turned off. The show on shortcut menu i believe is the right mouse button. Let me know if that works. Quote
Paul Miller Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Aww, you had me so excited. I looked and it's checked just like the demo that you showed. I unchecked it, then tried. Then I re-checked it and tried. I have no clue :-( I appreciate your help. Quote
shift1313 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 im not sure then paul. When I uncheck the box, that pop up menu doesnt appear, but when I check the box it does. Quote
Paul Miller Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Thanks for the help. I guess that I'm going to just keep messing around with it. Take care. Quote
shift1313 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 so is this only the right click menus or both left and right click menus? does it only appear in the feature tree or when you click the actual part, both or neither? Quote
Paul Miller Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 It's both. When I right click or left click the face of a part to to create a sketch, it just highlights it. Same with the tree. I can left click, or right click on them then go to the top to click sketch. Unfortunately, when I create a sketch & feature, I can't edit it. Because I can't get the option. Quote
Paul Miller Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Well what do ya know. Thanks to you I was able to figure it out. I unchecked the "Show in shortcut menu" box in the context tool bar settings, and it works. How that got that way is beyond me. I have never been in that area. Thanks a lot for helping me out. Take care Quote
