mvrcad Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Gday all Work has set me up with a pretty ordinary CAD pc setup. i am continually having to "regen all" to view all viewports on the sheet, and view layers that i have just turned on. Could this be the pc's specs or autocad settings? also is there a quick way of attaching the system info to a post like this? cheers Marcus Quote
rkmcswain Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You can enter your system specs here: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile As for the Regen All.... what is REGENAUTO set to? Quote
mvrcad Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 figured the regen out, regenmode was set to 0 Quote
mvrcad Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 as for system info, i mean, is there a code i can run on the pc or whtever that brings up a simple list of pc specs that can be cut and paste Quote
ReMark Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 There are utility programs that will gather system info into a single report. Windows does not do that. Check over at PCWorld (their Downloads section). Or take a look at Belarc Advisor. Warning: some programs generate too much data most of which only a true computer geek could understand or appreciate. If you bought a name brand computer like a Dell for instance you should be able to go online and find a copy of the system specs. Quote
nukecad Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 There is a nifty hardware scan on the D-A-L website http://www.d-a-l.com/hardwarescan/ Quote
Dana W Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System You may want to shrink the System window a bit so your Product ID Key at the bottom does not show. Screen print the resulting window, and paste the image to a *.doc or some imaging software, Save it to your desktop so it is easy to find, resize or crop as required to get it under the forum size limits. Then click the attachement icon (paper clip) in your next post, browse for your file and upload. Then, Bob's yer Uncle. To get your graphics card info, click Device Manager at the top left of your System page, then click on Display adapters. That will show you what ya got. That comes up in a separate window, so you can move it and capture it all in one screen print. See? system.doc Quote
ReMark Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System The above will not give you all the details for your system. For example, it does not indicate the capacity of your hard drive(s) nor does it tell you what graphics card you're running and the amount of vidRAM onboard. Those kinds of details are buried in Device Manager. It might tell you the amount of RAM but gives no further details either. How many DIMMs installed? What is the speed of the RAM? Use an utility program. Quote

Dana W Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Of course I prefer to just click "Computer Details" in the left margin... Hey!! How'd ya do that? Yeah, but, yeah but, that was not filled out in the OP's profile, because the OP did not know how to find the OP's system info. Quote
ReMark Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Bottom line: There is no "code" one can run to bring up all the pertinent information. Find the info using whatever means is available whether that is done manually (as described previously) or with the aid of a third-party utility. Print out a report or create a document using Notepad or a word processing program. Want to find out if your system is compatibile with a particular AutoDesk product? Get the recommended system requirements off the AutoDesk website and compare it to your report. Quote
rkmcswain Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Yeah, but, yeah but, that was not filled out in the OP's profile Which is why I told the OP where to do this. ...because the OP did not know how to find the OP's system info. The OP never said that in the original post when I made my reply. Quote
Dana W Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 My original post was in response to - as for system info, i mean, is there a code i can run on the pc or whtever that brings up a simple list of pc specs that can be cut and paste I just forgot to quote it. Quote
ReMark Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Go to PCworld.com > Downloads > Utilities > System Resources Tune-Up and download one of the following: SystemInfo v1.0.1.9 (free) System Analyser v5.3w ($10) Check what OS they work with before downloading and installing. Quote
