ica_cici Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hi All, I need to bend my spline path, but I couldn't do it by fillet. So, what should I do? Thanks for help. fillet.dwg Quote
zitree Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You cannot fillet Splines, Meshes, and Polygons. If you want to take the fillet command for that drawing, you must fillet before you make it spline. Draw that object with Pline than fillet that you need and use the PEDIT command to Spline it. Zitree Quote
ica_cici Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Well, according to AutoCAD help I can fillet splines. I need it in stream line, and I won't get it if I use Arch-pline. Quote
zitree Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You may create this object with the spline command and you do not use the Close option to end the spline command, right? You manually close the spline by dragging the last grid point to the first grid point is not it? If you use the Close option, you may result with fillet. That makes it one element / obyek. The Fillet command can only unite the two separate objects. I was also surprised by the information in Autocad help when in fact it could not. If you're still curious, please visit the Autodesk forums. There many experts autocad and certainly you must register in advance. And if you got the answer, please tell me too.... Zitree Quote
fahim108 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 You need to first trim the spline into half, then fillet it... Quote
ica_cici Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Thank you fahim108, I get better result now:) Quote
fahim108 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 my pleasure... **edit** Just for the info, I am posting a more "standard" version of egg geometry as you may not always get "splines" in real-world construction. It uses only arcs... Quote
zitree Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Yea..fahim right. It's mean Fillet command can only unite the two separate objects. Quote
Tankman Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Yea..fahim right. It's mean Fillet command can only unite the two separate objects. Excellent input from fahim! I like the simple (standard) geometry too! Quote
ica_cici Posted May 19, 2010 Author Posted May 19, 2010 That's a simple way but a big solution for me, Why I never thought about it before:?. Thank you again fahim108:) Quote
fuccaro Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I don't have AutoCAD right now, but just to clarify: the fillet command CAN be used on a polyline to fillet all the corners. Quote
fahim108 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I don't have AutoCAD right now, but just to clarify: the fillet command CAN be used on a polyline to fillet all the corners. Agreed. But you cannot close an 'open' polyline by filleting it. Quote
