We are noticing a problem when we “save copy as” with our Inventor .dwgs to; either, an AutoCad.dwg, or a .dxf format. The objects that are drawn full scale in Inventor, are now slightly larger or smaller than 1:1 or Full Scale for our router programming purposes & conversion needs. We suspected it had some relation with the “Edit View” “scaling” box----seemed it differed with the use of a slash vs. using a colon when changing the view size. Now we are experiencing the “off-scale” objects no matter which mark is used in setting the view size at “place view” dialogues at .dwg placement……does the “View Size” setting even have a bearing on this exported object size? We surely need some advice. Thanks for your help….

Hi. If you are exporting for router programming purposes, it is safest not to be doing it from the drawing. I find it best and safest to export the 2d dxf from the part itself. Right click flat pattern and save as .dxf or any other format.

I personally stay away the drawings to avoid any confusion with scale, view size etc etc.

The part needs to converted to sheetmetal to create a flat pattern. If you have a part that's a solid of some sort, and for instance you have slots in a particular surface, you can still export the 2d dxf by selecting the necressary face with the profile, and flat pattern.

Hope that helps.
