IronHorse Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I use Multiple solid body to create solids for my parts. I use "Combine" to extract one part from the others. This works, but I have to mark each solid separatly to cut my way through. Cant I mark solid 1-4 and say that solid 5 shall cut through them? Quote
shift1313 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 im not sure if that works or not. Is there a reason you need to keep them solid bodies up until a later point? All operations(extrude, sweep, loft and so on) will allow you to cut as they are produced. Quote
MarkFlayler Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 If Solid 5 needs to cut through solids 1-4 then you have to pick the solids button in the feature dialog box and then click the additional solids it needs to cut through. Though all only works by default on the solid you are working on. This is normal behavior. The same goes for holes that you want to include. Maybe this video I made a couple months ago will help. Pay attention when I do the hole command that I have to pick this additional box. http://blogs.rand.com/manufacturing/2009/11/inventor-multi-body-modeling.html Quote
IronHorse Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Hi I saw your video, but still I don´t know how to cut through many parts at the same time. See my screenshot. A wall consisited of two linings, throug them a cylinder. How do I cut through all in one feature. Shall i not use Combine? Wall is solid 1 and 2, the cylinder solid 5 Quote
MarkFlayler Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 You are over using Combine. You should only be using that if you are subtracting complex bodies such as stitched surfaces or derived in parts from the existing solids. You need to just use the Extrusion command to cut through multiple solids like I did with the Hole in the Vise base to the block in the middle. Quote
IronHorse Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Yes It worked perfectly, I overdue to use combine in this case. Sometimes the easy way is the right way. I will now try to push out these solids to parts. To see If It keeps the connection, If i f.ex change the sice of cylinder the parts will follow... Quote
