method of opening and saving files has changed!

Hi, I have an issue, when i left my computer on fri evening, my Auto CAD 2011 was saving and opening files as normal - when i asked a file to save or open, the standard file dialog box would open, i would then find the appropriate file to save as or open and i would click ok to do this.

However this morning when i try and open or save a file, the dialog box no longer appears and it asks me to enter the 'file format......' all in the lower command box! I do not understand why it is doing this and I'm not sure how to change it back to my standard format. If anyone could be of any help i would be very grateful.

Kindest Regards

Change the setting for FILEDIA to 1 (or 0 if it is at 1) and try Save As again.

Thankyou so much I have done so and its all back to normal. Why would that have changed by itself? surely you would have to change that by typing in filedia and putting it to 0 initially! how strange!

Glad its sorted. yeah, in theory one have to change FILEDIA or find the corresponding tick-box to change it. This is one of those variables that get changed for apparently no reason though, I usuallt blame various Lisps or something - but sometimes there is no apparent reason.

But there is a reason there is more than one member with the words FILEDIA=1 in their signatures here

:lol:Can we get AutoDesk to put Cad64's signature on the opening screen?

It's another unexplained attack of FILEDIA to be sure. Maybe we can have Lee Mac develop a vaccine for it.
