YZ Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Has anyone ever worked out an easy and foolproof way of automcatically placing the word "REDUCED", in red, on a plan when plotting and A3 set of A1 plans? I tried "Plot Stamp" but it is very limited in its geometry, only has a choice of 1 colour, and then sets your next plot to have a default of plotting with the plot stamp (which will definitely be forgotten sometimes and left on to full-sized plots...) ReMark Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Create a separate layer. Put the text you want on it (REDUCED). It can be frozen when plots are full-size and thawed when plots are reduced. Quote

When you say foolproof, you are assuming that everyone can read My way is simple. I have a scale bar, that can be read at proper scale. If you can't read it, it has been reduced, but you can still see the scale bar, which should give a clue to those reading the drawing Quote
YZ Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 When you say foolproof, you are assuming that everyone can read Ha ha, fair call. I mean foolproof for all other drafting staff! My latest thought is to create a button macro that will insert a block called "reduced", plot copies to the reduced paper size, then select and erase that block. I am hesitant to leave the word reduced in there because we provide the CAD files to clients after they are printed. I am not certain on the finer points of said macro. I'll post any progress that I make. Thanks. Quote
Tiger Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Everywhere I have the scale written out on my drawings, I have (A1) after it, so when people look for the scale, they know (or at least I hope the understand) that the scale is for a A1. Also use a scalebar on all drawings. And we never do anything but A1s - probably not foolproof but what is... Quote

Like you, we also have (A1) listed as a part of the bar scale. That is a good workaround. And every drawing has a bar scale. This means that we are not liable if a mistake is made by the client, but we are hoping to make it even clearer so that a mistake is not made, regardless of who is at fault, and even if they should have read it and known better. It is a good aim, even though there will always be folks that will never get it - even with big red letters (duhr...thought that was the diggin' plan...). Quote
Dana W Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Aren't you setting up a special layout for the reduced plots? I'd make a permanent layout just for them, with the large "REDUCED" watermark in paperspace right there on top of everything. Quote

The problem with two layouts, one A1 and one A3 is that you have to make each and every change in two places - also a source for mistakes. If you have everything in Model and only a Viewport in Layout then it would work. Quote
