AFitchguy07 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I was trying to draw problem 10 pictured below and ran into an issue. I have accomplished the 3 circles and have the 80 apart and center is 25.5 up and centered. I do not have the outline around the circles. I have read and re read about arcs and cannot seem to understand how this is suppose to work. I don't know the starting point of these arcs or the angles they are. I'm not sure where to begin. Anyone care to elaborate on this for me a bit? I'd appreciate it a lot. ---- Quote
MSasu Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Draw three concentrically circles around "holes" (1 x R13.5 and 2 x R10) and using Tangent OSNAP mode draw the contour lines and arc; use TRIM to remove unwanted part of circles. To draw bottom arc use Start - End - Radius sequence; pay attention to start from right side. Regards, Quote
eldon Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Generally, I find it easier to draw complete circles, and then trim to suit. You don't have to draw arcs. The question just says draw the object shown. In your example I would draw the lower arc shape using a circle with the TTR option and then trimming. Quote
ReMark Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 The topmost circle has a diameter of 13.5 while the arc it is adjacent to has a radius of 13.5 right? So the diameter of that arc must be (2)(13.5) or 27. 27 minus 13.5 is 13.5. The remaining two circles both have a diameter of 10. The radius of the arc adjacent to them is 10. That means the arc's diameter would be (2)(10) or 20. 20 minus 10 is 10. Do you agree or disagree? Quote

ReMark Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Here is a before and after image. Before I trimmed and after. This exercise should probably take about 3 minutes tops and that's if you glance out the window to watch that good looking girl who lives across the street walk by (approximate 45 seconds). Quote

I'm fresh at this i just figured out how the tangent osnap works. It moves and floats the lines point around circle until you attach it to an end point. amazing lol Quote
