geogaga Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Hello everyone! I have an assembly that I'm going to rapid prototype. There are a lot of parts with the relatively small threads: M10x1, M12x1, etc. Therefore, I decided to build an adaptive iFeature that would represent the thread profile sweeped or coiled. Is it possible to create such? I tried exporting it with adaptive planes for start and beginning planes for the thread and a couple of parameters (thread size, pitch), but Inventor just gives me "Object that are not supported by iFeatures will be removed from selection" when I try to include adaptive planes. shift1313 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Im not sure of the answer to your question but are you sure the method of rapid proto will print your threads. I have had threads as small as 10-32 come out usable even though I was told they wouldnt print. Quote
geogaga Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 I understand your concerns and am currently on stage of putting it all together in order to ask the quote for prototyping. If it won't be worth 3d printing it, I'd go with lathe post processing. Regarding the topics. I just managed to export the iFeature described, but there is one (profile) plane more than I expected...
