mcjohn Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I'm used to using autocad 2009 and have recently switched to autocad civil 2010 and trying to (for the first time) create a template to use for future drawings. Anyway, I create a new template and change my units in model space to mm, then i create a new layout, select plotter, plot by layout, and then scale I change to 1:1 and type in 1 unit = 1 mm. However, every time I try to type in 1 unit = 1 mm like I've normally done autocad changes it to 1 unit = 0.001 mm (or else if i set scale to 1:1000 it would allow 1:1). No clue why it is doing this and would appreciate any help. Normally i do 1:1 and then in the layout change the scale to whatever i need like 1:20,000. Quote
BIGAL Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Did you create your layout in true mm our titleblock is an A1 ie 801 x 570 with mview window inside then plot at 1:1 but MV windows are scaled not titleblock. Quote
Nardino Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 make sure the units in model space are the same as the units in paper space Quote
Dana W Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 On the page setup manager, the scale controls are for your paperspace units. It has nothing to do with modelspace units or viewport scale. It will scale your entire layout in relation to the paper. Scaling is enough of a morass without using something other than 1:1 on your paper itself. On the page setup manager dialog box... Scale dropdown list = 1:1 Choose either mm or inches in the next box. the Unit box should remain 1. Now, one mm or inch equals one paperspace unit. This means you draw your borderline and title block at 1:1 scale in paperspace. Next, go back to the layout, select your viewport, shape it to the required size, and while it is still selected, open properties. Change the Standard Scale if you need to, by selecting which ratio of Paper units to model units you want in the viewport. The ratios are paper:model. If you want 50 model units to equal 1 paper unit, select 1:50. For example - I have a 24x36 paper, and a drawing of a 24 acre parcel that is just a bit over 2600x2400 feet. My paper unit is 1" and my model unit is 1'-0", so I selected a viewport standard scale of 1:100. My plot scale is still 1:1 but my viewport scale is now 1" - 100'-0" so everything comes out on the paper and as large as possible. Quote
