I have used AutoCAD since ver 11 or 10. I have used and made many

lisp routines for myself and I currenly depend on them for my drafting

needs. I also used VBA with AutoCAD 2008. Much of my work depends

on usage of my past routines. Actually I much perfer programming CAD

over drawing in CAD but I must make a living so drawing is required.

Ok, now my employer wants me to learn Microstation and use it.

Any suggestions on programming microstation so I can make my

own routines. Any suggestions on drawing conversion form AutoCAD

to Microstaions.

Any thoughts on microstation?

Thank you,

it is interesting as an ex CAD dealer when talking to Autocad users they wanted to know about "lisp" but when talking to Microstation users about using "MDL" you always got a blank look on their faces.

To Quote off internet "MDL stands for MicroStation Development Language. It’s a misnomer, really, as MDL is much more than just a language (the actual "language" used by MDL developers is C)." They also now talk of Microstation basic.

The other thing to do with microstation is to set up transfer tables ie this in Autocad = this in microstation. Version 8 + is meant to be better for the transfer between the two platforms.

Sorry last couple of exchanges have been disasters. But that said one of my clients used microstation with transfer tables and worked every time. So hassle the dealer to show how to do properly.

Maybe there should be a Microstation section here ?

well in reality this is an AutoCAD forum, but we do have a section for other products our AutoCAD users may be using too

I'll raise it with the boss though - after all, SketchUp has it's own section!
