edoubleu Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Hi, This is my first post here and I hope someone could help out. We recently did a small survey and I imported the points into Civil 3D 2008. After reviewing the raw data file, I noticed that the 2 control points that were used to do a resection in the field were swapped, meaning PT#1 coordinates were selected in the gun and PT#2 location was shot and vice versa. Now I have a whole series of points that are rotated and scaled wrong. Is there a way to rotate and scale a whole set of points, like using the Align command? Of course I need to hold the elevations that are associated to the points. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric Quote
alanjt Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Just use the native Scale and Rotate commands. I suppose Align would work, but I've never tried it with C3D points. As far as keeping the elevations untouched, just set your OSnapZ override to use 0.0 (there's a button at the bottom right of the screen), then it will only use the X,Y values. Quote
edoubleu Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 I did try that first. The only thing that moved was the point text (point number, elev., desc.). The actual point node did not move. Quote

Are you sure these are Civil 3D points and not Land Desktop points? Civil 3D points don't behave that way. They act as one object with grips being the only way to rotate/move the labels away from the point node. Quote
edoubleu Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 You're right, sorry about that. These are AECC_POINT's. I'm in Land Desktop Companion, not actually Civil 3D. I can move the point text with the grip and the leader is drawn. I can rotate the points by selection, that's ok. Being able to hold a base point and then scale them all a certain distance doesn't work. Quote
alanjt Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 There's a check box somewhere in the point settings (it's been a long while since I've messed with LDD) that allows you to move the entire point. If that doesn't work, make a block out of what you want to move/rotate/scale, alter them, then explode the block. BTW, since you are in LDD, DON'T FORGET TO CHECK POINTS AFTERWARD! Quote
edoubleu Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 thanks for your input. There is a check box to allow points to be moved. By default you cannot move them. I was then able to move and scale about a base point. Quote

JerryG Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 You can also just swap the Coordinates for the two points in your text file before you import them into Cad. Quote
