Hi everyone

Please can someone give me a hand, or lead me in the right direction. Working a series on aluminium laser cut screens which are on a curve and I am trying to create a block which allows me to stretch each block to resemble the curve in elevation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you worked with dynamic blocks yet?

If you set a linear parameter in your block edit, then select a stretch action in which you will select the parameter, and create the selection area around the end of your rectangle and the end of the parameter. If you do the same to the to the perpendicular direction, be sure to highlight both of the parameters, then on the properties menu on the second to last line turn them to "YES" on chain actions.

Let me know if this is a bit confusing

Are you trying to stretch those leaves or keep them the same x/y proportions?

Started using dynamic blocks about 5 minutes before I posted.... fun and games!

Okay, followed your instructions and have got a bit further. Read the flollowing under the AutoCAD Help file:

  • Objects entirely within the frame are moved.
  • Objects that cross the frame are stretched.
  • Objects within or crossed by the frame, but not included in the selection set, are not stretched or moved.
  • Objects outside the frame and included in the selection set are moved.

If you download the file, you will see all the "leaves" which will need to be stretch with the frame edges. How do I cut those "leaves" with the stretch frame? Have you got any advice about that?

Yeah trying to stretch them, but fixing the Y proportions. Only want to stretch the X proportions.

I'll test a few ideas for simplicity. But the easiest solution (only bearable for a small number of edited parts) would be to turn each of the five leaves sections into blocks (making the x-y center of the section the block reference point), then adjust the y-scale manually in the properties menu to expand the proper amount. If you use dimensions in the defpoints layer you will be able to calculate the scale quickly.

I will get back to you after looking into more methods
