CADjunk Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I am running AutoCAD 2009 and we just ported all our computers to a new domain and have to reinstall all the printers. Previously I was able to plot very large drawings (42in by 150in) no problem to the 42 in roll feed on the HP DesignJet 800, however if I use the HP Windows driver 6.19 it will only allow me a plot size of 129in long and does not recognize the roll feed. There does not seem to be a Heidi driver for the DesignJet 800. I have no idea what we had done before that made this work. We are running Windows XP. Any suggestions? Quote
ReMark Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Is there a HPGL/2 card installed? Did you click on Properties, then Custom Properties in the plotter configuration editor? On the Paper/Quality tab, under "Source is:" what options are listed? We're running a HP Designjet 500 which uses the same driver (we have version 6.15 loaded). Under "Source is:" we show roll as the default. What version driver were you running beforehand? Quote

I can't modify custom page size and can only modify postscript custom size, but that is limited to 129" long. Is the HPGL/2 card something installed on the computer or on the plotter? Is it a physical card, or a piece of software? Quote
skipsophrenic Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 is the HPGL/2 card something installed on the computer or on the plotter? Is it a physical card, or a piece of software? it's a physical card for the hewlet packard DesignJet 500 and 800 series that if i undertand the writeup correctly you need a driver for as well Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Sounds like you're using the Postscript version of the driver. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 yeah, at least i think .pc3 is postscript Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 PC3 refers to a nonsystem plotter configuration file. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 methinks i need to look in my cadbible and refresh my little brain again! Quote
ReMark Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 The HP-GL/2 accessory card comes with additional memory onboard. Ours has a 16MB memory module and is installed in the left-hand back corner of the plotter. This gives the plotter additional capacity for spooling plots. Your plotter, since it is connected via a network, should have a LAN card installed. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 right gotcha, cheers for clarifying that Quote
lifeinbeats Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 This is an issue with the new 6.19 driver. On HP's website it tells you the problem and tells you to roll back your driver to 6.17 but it doesn't provide you with that driver, and they've discontinued support for this model. Lousy *******s. The problem is that the 6.19 driver rounds off the last pixel of the 42" roll the wrong way, and so no matter how you plot, 42" paper is never big enough. You would think that HP would have enough sense not to end their support on a plotter with a faulty driver, but then again, if you can expect this kind of customer service from anyone it's HP. Try to find your install disk and follow HPs instructions on rolling back old printer drivers. It's not as easy as it looks. "More current" drivers are worse than a virus. Any reminents of them left on your system and they auto-update. Quote
