I have about a schedule sent by a client, with over a thousand numbers, with what should be decimal points as the separator.

e.g

278.02

289.46

342.54

etc..

But they have what looks like backwards apostrophe instead (on my keyboard it's located top left hand corner) instead of decimal place.

e.g.

278`02

289`46

342`54

The find command, is not recognising this symbol, so I can't just replace them with decimal point.

Any suggestions of how to fix???????

try 2 reverse quotes

From Help, I'm guessing it works w/ Find/Replace also...

NoteTo filter on a layer name that contains a wild-card character, precede the character with a reverse quote (`) so that it is not interpreted as a wild-card character.

Could you please post a bit of the schedule, so that we can have a play with the actual figures? :)

Because my Mtext editor finds and replaces characters as you have described.

Thanks for replys. Sorry for delay in reposting.

I have tried reverseing text and have changed first section of schedule text to Mtext & tried, with no luck.

Attached is part of schedule with (`)

If it helps, schedule was created in ListCad, where symbol appeared as mid placed decimal point on client hardcopies. Text style was labled as microfont in original cad file.

I have also, created text from scratch containing symbol and find still will not recognise.

Last thing. Key on my keyboard is grouped with ~ above ` symbol, my find is not recognising either.

I just tried it and it worked for me; Find `` and replace with .

Why isn't it working for me. Am off to try on another machine, will let you know.

OK, Just tried at office next door, who are running Autodesk Map 04 (I have Map 06) and it worked, no worries.

Is anyone aware of some system variable or something that may have disabled certian keyboard functions on my machine, or alteration the find command in some way???

Any ideas what so ever?????????

Have figured out what I did wrong. (Not sure why I could do next door)

But I have been adding single (`) reverse quote. Not realising that the reverse quote has a function, (like the asterix is used as a wild card), the reverse quote symbol "reads the next character exactly" so to find reverse quote, I have to add a reverse quote before it.

This had been written out in first reply post and I mis-read and thought I had to reverse the text to read backwards. Thanks & sorry

At least I've learnt something today.

Thanks! I've been struggling with getting the FIND/REPLACE tool to recognize the hashmark symbol.
