This has been a major problem we have and had to do a workaround that doesnt work as efficiently.

How do you start autocad to create a drawing? The code we had (but didnt work properly):

'to start autocad and create an instance of it, it doesnt work however

AcadApp = New Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.AcadApplication

'to open a specific file

AcadDoc = AcadApp.Documents.Open("C:\contracts\test.dwg", False, "")

Current System:

AutoCAD 2010, Windows 7 64-bit.

It works on autocad 2010, windows vista 32-bit fine. but not the windows 7 64-bit. Please take a look at this AutoDesk

First of all, this forum is not Autodesk or in any way connected to Autodesk - if you want assistance from Autodesk, I suggest you go to their official website.

Second, I have always thought that if you have a 64-bit system you need the AutoCAD for 64-bit - but I am not the go-to-guy for that.

This list says that ACAD2010 is compatible with Windows 7 so that shouldn't be the problem.

Tiger: You can run 32-bit apps on a 64-bit system. I currently have 2004 (32-bit) loaded on my 64-bit (Win7) desktop. I'm also running AutoCAD 2010 (64-bit) on this system as well.

Then I have learnt something new today, can I go home then? :)

Home? Didn't you just get in? What do work now, banker hours? Sure, why not. Have a sparkling day.

Mark, we are looking to replace an aged desktop - would you recommend Win 7, 64 bit?

I would Go 64 bit. But thats my prefence, you will get more speed out of a 64 bit system.

I would heartily recommend upgrading to a 64-bit system. The choice of operating system is up to you. I'd consider XP or Win7. I would not even consider Vista.

If you cannot afford to spent a lot then keep the RAM to 4GB (maybe even drop down to 1066MHz) and look at using an entry level graphics card. Both can be upgraded in the future.

Thanks

I have no experience with 64 bit. I hope to go for gold here so we'll see what I can get.
