mcjohn Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 With AutoCAD 2009 I was able to load a raster image file in ECW format (a large, 250 mb orthographic file) but now that I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 I can no longer load ECW files. When opening the folder of the image file in AutoCAD it simply does not recognize ECW has being an image file. Help! Quote
Cad64 Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 As far as I know, plain Autocad has never had the ability to insert ECW images. You must have been using Map 3D? To insert ECW images into Civil 3D, it looks like you need an object enabler. See here: http://advsurveying.com/blog/?p=176 Quote
mcjohn Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 I've tried using the data connection in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 and while the orthographic aerial image (250 mb) shows up in model space, it only partially shows in viewport layours (i.e. like half of it shows and changes as you zoom) and plots at a very low dpi despite the plotter at 600 dpi. I have resolved the issue as you suggest by installing the free AutoCAD Raster Design 2010 Object Enabler from http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13023431&linkID=9240618 Thank you for your help (I had used the 2009 object enabler for ACAD 2009 and forgot I had installed this to get ecw files inserted).
